Printing guide

A great academic calendar deserves a great print. Spend two minutes setting up your print dialog and the result will look like something a school district printed in bulk, not something that came out of a laser printer in a hurry.

Paper size

Templates are designed to work on both US Letter (8.5×11 in) and A4 (210×297 mm). The PDF includes both a Letter and A4 variant — open the one that matches your printer's default tray.

Orientation

Full-year and quarter calendars use landscape. Monthly, weekly, daily, and finals templates use portrait. Do not let your print dialog auto-rotate — that will scale the layout and produce a thin white border.

Margins and scaling

In your printer's dialog, choose Actual size or 100% scale. Do not select "Fit to printable area" — that will shrink the grid and make the cells too small to write in.

Color or black and white

The templates are designed to look correct in both color and grayscale. If you are printing in black and white on a high-volume office printer, switch the dialog to Grayscale rather than Black ink only. The mint accent will render as a soft gray instead of disappearing.

Heavy paper for wall planners

If you are pinning the full-year calendar to a wall, print on 24 lb or 28 lb paper rather than standard 20 lb copy paper. The heavier weight resists curling and looks more professional.

Binding monthly templates

For a 12-month set, print all twelve months on the same paper, hole-punch the top edge with a 3-hole punch, and bind with a single binder ring. The result lays flat on a desk and flips cleanly month to month.

Print preview before you print

Always preview before printing, especially the first time. Check that the date grid lines extend to the edge of the printable area and that no row is cut off the bottom of the page.
