Data sources

Build note from the most recent data seed:

Confirmed live sources: Wikipedia: Academic term (353332 bytes); Data.gov: school calendar datasets (203140 bytes); US OPM: Federal holidays (157833 bytes). Calendar entries generated from these reference structures.

Reference sources we consult

  • Wikipedia — Academic term for global term-structure conventions (semester, quarter, trimester systems).
  • Data.gov open dataset listings for US K-12 academic calendar data.
  • US Office of Personnel Management — Federal Holidays for the public-holiday list reflected in K-12 break placement.
  • US Department of Education academic calendar references for typical school-year length and instructional-day requirements by state.
  • UK Department for Education guidance on the standard three-term, six-half-term school year for state schools in England.

If the live sources are reachable when our build script runs, we record their availability in the build note above. If any are unreachable we fall back to a deterministic generator based on the documented structural patterns.
